Allen Mortuary

Most family called her “Bert” or Aunt Bert.  She met Bernardino Ramos and they were wed in Lordsburg, New Mexico on June 30, 1945. They had 8 children, Tina Selvidge of Turlock, Bernice Parga of Merced, Bernard Junior Ramos of Turlock, Ricky Ramos of Miles City, Montana, Lorraine Perez of Livingston and Dolores Medina of Livingston.  She is proceeded in death by her children, Sandra Ramos and Dennis Ramos.She is survived by 21 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren.  She is proceeded in death by great grandchild, Melinda Charles.  She is survived by siblings - Mary Ellen Culpepper of Escalon, John Webb of Turlock. Proceeded in death by siblings - Vera Dove, Ira Webb, Nellie Pritchard, Lena Holveck, Marie Yocum, Pauline Kauffman, Tommie Webb and Peggy Hotchkiss.During her lifetime, the family lived in Merced and Stanislaus County cities. She was married and proceeded in death by Bernardino Ramos, John Quirino, and Earl Vincent.Bertha lived a few years at Ceres Christian Terrace before moving to Turlock Silver Crest Senior Apartments, where she lived before spending her last few years at Vintage Faire Rehab and Care Facility.  Bertha was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary.   Bertha loved her family, enjoyed her friends, and going to church when she could.  She also enjoyed her visits from nieces, Judy Macedo and Kathy Wade.Visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, December 3, at Allen Mortuary.  A funeral service will be held at 10am on Tuesday, December 4, also at Allen Mortuary.  Burial will follow at Turlock Memorial Park. ...

Gwen was born in March of 1930 in Chico, California to parents Dolpha and Lulu Crane. She attended Fresno state as a music major and Chico state where she obtained her teaching credential. Gwen’s passion for education is reflected in her 40 years of teaching. Her career began in 1952 at Modesto’s Wilson elementary and took her to Ballico and Turlock’s Crowell schools. Even into retirement, she volunteered her time assisting with classroom needs in the Ballico-Cressy school district. She enjoyed family, country life, her pets and music. But closest to her heart were her grandchildren.Gwen was a member of the Cortez Presbyterian church for many years and was active in the community of Ballico. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Lowell. Gwen is survived by her children David Hillerman, Mark Hillerman and Janet (Hillerman) Passarino, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.A Funeral with Reception will take place at 1 PM on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Allen Mortuary.
